Finalisted in the GURU Award Contest in the Photo Retouching Category by Photoshop World 2015, I feel like I need to keep practicing and refine my skills in Portrait Retouching using Adobe Photoshop.
Thanks to the amazing Keri Beck, who was willingly let me photograph her without any type of make up, straight out of bed, I got an awesome canvas to practice my Photo Retouching skills on. Since I’ve never done digital make-up before, I decided watch a few tutorials on KelbyOne on digital makeup and learn the technique.
Then, with all that I’ve already known from past experience, I plugged in my Wacom tablet and started working.
I started with correcting the redness on her face using Hue/Saturation Adjustment. Then, I used Phlearn‘s technique to retouch her eyebrows and make them look thicker Then, I used Lindsay Adler‘s technique to remove/soften blemished on her skin as well as contouring the shape of her face. I also use the contouring technique taught by Lindsay Adler to shape her eyes, giving Keri’s gorgeous eyes pop out even more.
Next, I started to add digital makeup using Soft Light Blending Mode and the Brush Tool in Adobe Photoshop. I had a lot of trials and errors with this technique but I finally got it!
Finally, I added a little warming filter on top. Walaa! Here’s the before and after:
The whole process took me about a whole hour and to complete and I;m pretty happy with it. Let me know what you guys think in the comment section below!
