I took EPIC men’s fashion photography at the Sand Dunes, St. Anthony, Idaho with COMM316, Professional Imaging.
Last week, our awesome COMM316 class headed out to Egin Lake, by the sand dunes to have a high fashion photo shoot. Fashion photography is a genre of photography devoted to displaying clothing and other fashion items. It’s different from portraits photography because the focus is in the clothing and the accessories. Lindsay Adler is one of the experts in this field
There’s something special about men fashion photography. It needs to make other men want to wear what’s showcased in the image.
I love using auxiliary for this kind of photography. An EPIC sunset background will not be wash out with a pop of flash from your studio light. The result is always amazing. Studio lighting is essential when you want to shoot straight into the sun.
You don’t have to always shoot straight into the sun to get amazing results. Sometimes, it’s okay to create a triangle of light with the sun. I took the two images below using the sun as the main source of light. In post production, my fellow photographer, Lindsey LeFevre, and I both love the way the clothes looks when I added some clarity in post production.
When you see some cool clouds going on in the background, say no more and take out your speed light. BOOM! You can create some magic. Check out the image below when I use my speedlight to capture both my subject and the cool clouds in the background.
